Misc Pictures

Cacyi keeps asking why are the flowers different here in Bahrain?..  We keep trying to explain that it's a different climate (oh, so warm!!).  She and I especially love the white flowers - they smell a little like honeysuckle (the last picture is of the tree that they grow on).  The other pictures are just misc pictures here in Bahrain.  We have only been from the hotel to school and base, but there's SO much to see just from that short distance!  We would love to hear if everyone is enjoying the blog??

Pictures around town

Just some pictures out the main gate.  Can you tell why it's called "American Row"??  I don't know if you can tell, but the first picture is "Starbucks" and then "Wokinabox" and then "Macaroni Grill"...  The picture of McDonalds and Hardees is even harder to see, but we definitely do not lack take out food!  Oh, and every single place DELIVERS!!  You know I am in heaven!!!

My Classroom! And the View out my window...

Spooktacular

After our first week, the Lentz family was totally exhausted!  However, we really enjoyed last nights "Spooktacular" event that our school puts on for the community.  It was completely, over-the-top, awesome!  Hope you enjoy the pictures!

MORE pictures!!! LOl!!!

The last couple were of our hotel, and the view out our hotel window.  These are of Logan and Cayci on their first day of school here, and out Eric's classroom window.  I promise to send more this weekend!!

More Pictures (Can't Change the Size??)

Okay, last three pictures were of the last day - and at the airport.  Adding more....

It's Been a Whirlwind Kind of Week!

It is so hard to believe that we have only been in Bahrain one week (not even quite a whole week, to be technically correct!).  What an adventure it's been!  After our quick trip to Orlando to drop off the car (and see Brandon quickly---), we got on the plane to Washington DC; which of course, was DELAYED.  Which made our connecting flight quick!!!  But we made it, and off to Kuwait the Lentz Family flew!  Luckily for all of us, Cayci slept that entire flight!  Amazing!  Unfortunately, the rest of us didn't!!!  After Kuwait, we had a quick layover, then after another nice DELAY, we arrived in Bahrain about an hour later.  Tired, "foggy", and definitely jet lagged, two men arrived from our hotel, picked us up and drove us to the biggest hotel room that we have ever stayed in!  To say that the standards are a little different here would be a gross understatement (however, they ARE standards that you pay for!!  $300.00 a night!!!-- Luckily, we are reimbursed for all expenses!)  A very nice co-worker from school met us on Friday morning to take us around the base, and to keep us moving -- which really helps jet lag!  On Saturday we spent the entire day looking at villas, and ended up finding the PERFECT villa for our family.  It's really big, with a very nice swimming pool, but I will tell more about that when I have pictures to share.  Sunday morning, the Lentz family started at our new school!  I enrolled Logan and Cayci-- then I was off to meet my new class!  I am teaching 3rd grade and Eric is teaching 4th grade, and I am absolutely sure that I got the best end of that!  I sure do love my kids already!!!  I will blog more on that later, too!  Needless to say, it's been busy, but rewarding, and EVERYONE is SO SO SO welcoming to our whole family!!!  We are looking forward to settling down a little (still trying to get all our in-processing completed)-- and moving into our house sometime (maybe next week??... probably not, but I'm hopeful!!)!  Internet is hard to come by here!  Our hotel charges $90.00, and we just can't bring ourselves to pay that much!!!  It is also slow, even when we move, but I'll be able to get onto the web more often --!!  Would love to hear from everyone!!  I am attaching pictures, so if there's anything that you specifically want to see (like the SIZE of my HUGE classroom!!) just ask!!!  Miss our friends-- but definitely don't miss the stress!!!

Last Full Day in the United States!

Today we woke up to a very rainy Orlando day (sad for Cayci-- who really wanted to swim!)...  Eric went for a quick walk and found out that the place that we needed to take our car to be shipped was RIGHT behind the hotel!  Lucky for us!  So by 10 am our car was on it's own journey (and we aren't supposed to see it again until sometime in JANUARY!).  So, we spend the rest of the day hanging out at the Florida Mall, and eating all the American food we could think of!  It was a great day with Brandon and Kat!  Wonder if any of the Lentz family will sleep tonight??

Little Sister's visit and Nathanial's competition

My sister came back this weekend and we enjoyed Nathanial's band competition, dinner, then yesterday: the mall and a fabulously filling lunch at Olive Garden.  Hard to believe it was our last full day in Kentucky, but we are all getting pretty stir crazy!  Today we start driving to Orlando after they finish packing up our storage items.  I couldn't go back to the house - too sad.  It was my absolute favorite part about living in Kentucky--!

Packed and hotel bound!

Here we go!  Our household items are all packed and mostly all on the truck that will send all of our worldly possessions on a boat, and we will eventually get to use them again!  We checked into a local hotel yesterday to wait out the rest of the packing (luckily it has a NICE pool!).  Eric is determined that he will get very tired of eating out long before we get dishes and pans back!

We also got our travel iternerary today with flight information.  We will be leaving Hopkinsville Monday, drive down to Orlando, Florida (quick trip to see Brandon and hopefully ship our car) and our flight will leave out of Orlando on Wednesday afternoon, arriving in Bahrain on Thursday late afternoon.  Will post pictures/videos as this trip progresses!
